Gran Canaria. This is the island we stayed on. Gran Canaria along with
Tenerife are the largest islands in the Canary Islands. We stayed very close to the
shore, but took a day trip around the entire island. The scenery was breathtaking, and
at times rather scary. Our tour bus was quite large and top heavy, and seemed to teeter
around some of the cliffs. The roads were extremely narrow, certainly not wide enough
for two lanes of cars, nevermind a gigantic tour bus.
We made several stops along the way. In one villa there was some famous cathedral.
Of course I can't remember the name of the villa, or the cathedral ... but anyways it was
big. For lunch we stopped at this restaurant seemingly in the middle of nowhere
that overlooked the incredible scenery. The food was ok, but what do they really care about
the quality -- 95% of the people there are tourists, and will probably never go back!
